Cliff Edge Vows and 3,137 miles - A Northern Ireland Elopement

Passionate about their Irish roots, childhood sweethearts Jackee and Craig stepped forth into their biggest adventure yet. 10 years after their engagement on the Cliffs of Moher they travelled from their home town in New Jersey US to a small cottage outside Killyleagh in Northern Ireland. In an intimate and private ceremony Jackee and Craig shared their vows and first kiss as a new married couple, on the date that marked their 10 year anniversary.

Couple elope on cliff edge

Jackee and Craig have always loved the landscapes that the North and South coast of Ireland has to offer, and couldn't think of anywhere better to have the best day of their lives captured. Jackee loved the idea of having the environment help tell the story of their day and wanted beautiful cliffs and crumbling structures to help play a big part in it.

Finding the perfect location for an Elopement in Northern Ireland is one of our favourite parts of the journey, we get to explore the most beautiful parts of the country, step off the beaten path and look at every detail through a different lens. Jackee knew she wanted a location with cliff edges to add a touch of sentiment to their engagement day. She also wanted to add variation to give a deeper sense of the enormous adventure they were on together. Emerald green fields, old historic and crumbling buildings, along with beautiful sandy beaches and lush forests. Northern Ireland has it all, but few places along the north coast have it all at once. Having found the perfect location for what Jackee and Craig were dreaming of, we couldn't wait to meet them and introduce them to the stunning seaside village of Castlerock. Home to one of NI's most beautiful beaches and connected directly to the majestic Mussenden Temple, along with the 18th century ruins of the Bishop of Derry's Downhill House, and its extraordinary grounds.

Meeting Jackee and Craig for the first time was an incredible experience and the excitement and love they share for each other was contagious. Seeing their faces light up as we guided them through the grounds of Mussenden Temple was priceless. Starting at the lower gardens we captured elegant portraits amongst the tall trees where Jackee and Craig completely submersed themselves into nature. Then guiding them upward through a beautiful clearing of vast open fields, revealed the stunning historic ruins of the 18th century Downhill House. Not being able to contain their excitement Craig lifted Jackee and spun her around filling the air with laughter, they were in their element. A few short meters away from Downhill House is where they could hear the crashing of the waves 120ft below them with Mussenden Temple perfectly perched on the edge of a vertical cliff. Then as the day enters golden hour, the couple stop to take it all in and witness the light transform everything before heading down to the beach below to capture the end of what was the most perfect day.

Photographing Jackee and Craig's elopement was an absolute dream. The Northern Ireland coast provided the perfect canvas for their love story, and we were honoured to be the ones to capture it. From candid shots against the rugged landscape to intimate portraits by the sea, every photograph told a part of their beautiful story and incredible adventure that will last a lifetime.
